Boyle Abbey
A well preserved Cistercian Monastery which was founded in 1161 by the MacDermotts, the ruling family of that time. In the 17th & 18th centuries it was used as a military garrison. Boyle Abbey is one of the best surviving examples of an early Cistercian abbey in Ireland.

Clonalis House

Drumanone Dolmen
The Drumanone Dolmen, built before 2000 BC, is located outside Boyle, Co. Roscommon.
Take the R294 from Boyle. Continue under railway bridge, on your right there is a gate into a field. Get permission before entering.

Elphin Windmill
This fully restored, working, 18th century windmill is the oldest of it’s kind in the country. The mill now houses a visitor centre where the workings of the windmill are demonstrated.

Strokestown Park
Strokestown Park House & Gardens, is in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon. The estate is made up of a Georgian Palladian mansion, the National Famine Museum and beautiful Victorian walled gardens that have been restored to their former glory.

Lough Key Forest Park
Lough Key Forest Park is in an area of great historical interest and is comprised of woodland and numerous islands. It was originally the home of the McDermotts, it was then granted to the King family who renamed it Rockingham Estate.

Rathcroghan Visitor Centre
Rathcroghan Visitor Centre is located in the medieval village of Tulsk, within the royal complex of Cruachan, the oldest and largest unexcavated Royal Complex in Europe. Rathcroghan is the location for over 240 identified archaeological sites, 60 National Monuments, and is the ancient capital of Connacht.

Our Rathcroghan guided site tours run year-round Mon to Fri at 12 pm, (Sat by appointment only), weather permitting. Sunday tours can be arranged for groups by appointment only.
From May 1st until the end of August, we run an additional daily site tour at 2 pm, which includes a visit into Oweynagat Cave.
